Buy one of our very special gift cards, and make a real difference to someone’s life.
An India Direct gift card is the perfect present for anyone and it makes a real contribution to our work. The price you see is the donation you’re giving, so that you know exactly what goes to our projects in India.
Each card costs £2 to produce and deliver to you. This doesn’t make a profit – it just covers the cost of the materials and postage, and will be added onto the price at the checkout.
A New Outfit – £5
The trouble with well cared for children is that they keep outgrowing their clothes! A new outfit – a dress for the girls or t-shirt and shorts for the boys – including underwear costs only £5.
Education in the Community – £5 for a month
We offer educational support to a number of children living with their families in the community. £5 pays for a child to have a place at one of our educational support centres for a month, creating employment for a tutor within the community and giving the child a helping hand with their school work. For children whose parents have not been to school themselves, this is particularly important.
A School Pack – £10
Children in India must provide all their own stationery and equipment for learning at school. £10 will pay for a school support kit, which includes a rucksack, pencil case with pencils, ruler and eraser, crayons and a water bottle.
Elderly Care – £10
Elderly people in Indian communities can easily become isolated and destitute without family to care for them or the means of earning a living. This project supplies one hot meal per day for a month in a supportive and friendly environment.
School Uniform – £15
School uniform is compulsory in Indian schools. India Direct provides both the fees and the uniform which enable the children at Bethel and Joy to have a life-changing education. A complete uniform costs just £15 per child.
School Books for 2 Students – £15
School books for an entire year cost less than many hardbacks in the UK – only £15. This even covers the cost for two children! Books are absolutely vital to support a child’s education, giving them the chance of a brighter future.
A Tailoring Kit – £20
In India it is difficult for young women to find work which will give them their independence. Many of the young adults leaving Bethel and Joy Homes continue their education with a tailoring course. Not only does this provide them with the means to earn a good living, but also gives them a valuable life skill to help them clothe them and their families in the future. £20 pays for a tailoring kit of scissors, tape measure, pins and threads.
School Fees – £25
A good education is vital to give all children best possible start for their life after they leave our care, which is why we ensure that all our children go to one of the local schools. £25 will help to provide a good education for a year – roughly the cost of one hour of private tuition in the UK!
Please note, all of the cards are handmade. Therefore design and colours may vary slightly from images.
